The UK faces a longstanding housing shortage. Analysts suggest this has been compounded by the recent rise in migration, which has increased pressure on existing stock, raised prices and placed home ownership beyond the reach of many. This raises an important question: how far can the current housing crisis be attributed to the immigration system, and what level of housebuilding is still required to address it?
